Goals

Here is a photo of a list of goals I wrote in 1999. Lets just say my goals area little bit different these days!

I know for a fact that last goal was never met! Hopefully i'm better at setting and reaching goals now than I was back then!

Short Term
Personal:
I want to make sure I pick the best possible father for my children. Right now I have to be dating the right kind of people in order to do that. So I’m working on it! I also want someone who I can grow with and will help me become a better person every day. I want the Gospel to be a main focus of our relationship and what ties us together.

Educational:
In about one year I will be graduating from BYU-Idaho in Elementary Education. I have a lot of work to do before then! I will be working hard to finish up my requirements and then take the praxis test as well as set up student teaching.

Career:
I want to begin teaching in my own classroom in the fall of 2012. I am beyond excited for this. But first I need to graduate and pass the state exams and my student teaching! After I am done with my first or second year of teaching I want to begin my Masters program in either administrative education or specialize in reading.

Spiritual:
I want to work on my family history. Make it a goal to index at least 500 names before the end of the year.  Also I want to attend the temple at least once a month if not more. I also want to focus on my fasting and make it a more meaningful experience.

Mid-Range
Personal: I want to be healthy!  I don’t want to let the business of life affect my health. I want to be able to be active and be able to play with my children and not let health related issues get in the way. I want to be the best mother and wife that I can be.  In about 10 years I want to be living somewhere warm! It can be a place where it snows here and there but not Rexburg style where the majority of the time you have 10 layers on in order to survive.

Educational:
I would like to have my masters program done. I always want to be learning and educating myself. Learning from experiences as well as from teachers.

Career:
I want to be happy with my job if I am working. I want to wake up every day excited to go to work, not dreading it. If I have to take a few years off to raise my family no big deal. I would love to do it that way actually because I think it is very important that children have a parent at home when they get home.

Spiritual:
I want to be raising my family in righteousness. I believe that holding regular family home evening will be crucial. Also, I want to serve. I want to serve everyone around me and always be giving my best efforts to the church and my calling.

Long Term
Personal:
If I am 80 and can still walk to the mailbox life will be good! I just want to be happy. Life is hard sometimes but I have learned recently that happiness is a choice and we are given the choice to react however we would like to different situations. I want to have no regrets and know that I lived a life full of happiness and love and service to those around me.

Educational:
I always want to be learning! Good news is that I always will be...because I hardly know anything and that probably won't be any different when I'm 90!

Career:
First of all be retired! But I want to be able to look back on my career and know that I gave all the students I taught everything I had to make them successful. I want them to believe in themselves and know that they are worth more than they could ever imagine. I want them to LOVE learning!

Spiritual:
I want to look back on my life and know that I have successfully kept the covenants I made with my Heavenly Father. I want to have piece of mind that I have done my absolute best to grow and experience all that the Lord intended me to here on earth. I have always had a dream of serving a mission with my husband. I think that would be an amazing experience.  I want to have a posterity that is proud of where they came from!
